Planning your Installation

If you have a TCP/IP network, then you should install WorkgroupMail server to a single machine which will become the local POP3 server to which all e-mail clients will connect in order to send and receive Internet mail. This machine should be capable of connecting to your Internet Service Provider either directly or via dial-up networking.

If you do not have a TCP/IP network, or only some of your computers have access to a TCP/IP network then you should install the WorkgroupMail server to one machine and then install the WorkgroupMail MAPI service to each client computer. All computers running WorkgroupMail as a MAPI service should have access to a shared disk on a file server.
